Yeah, like this game happened because a lot of games were in development hell and as such something was made quick. And when that happens stuff is going to sneak past.

And honestly, I think keeping the Redemption people together for so long after returning to the game is the right kind of evil twist, because it rightly punishes them for being voted out with many fewer connections going into the merge. Michael may have no enemies, but he also has no friends. Going into the merge with no connections to anyone puts you in an extremely tenuous position, and if one of them manages to make it to the end with people liking them and feeling like they know them enough to want to see them win despite them having to meet basically everyone weeks into the game, I think they'll have earned that.

We haven't totally screwed them over [there's still more game to play!], but they're coming in with a major disadvantage. Michael, Dark Rey, Cleric [and kind of Monk?] have had no time to know most of the cast.

Yeah exactly. That's what I'm saying I like, even though it sucks for them.
The treatment of Grogu and Ranger I like much less, but I've already made that clear. And I do think they probably should have gotten fewer items, but hopefully they'll have to attend tribal and some of their items will get flushed.

Looks like Hare got the trick for the challenge.
All the words are nautical theme, and that's hinted at throughout the challenge post.

I think there's not a ton more to say about this twist than I said last round, so I'll just repost my thoughts from then in case players are reading back through these threads postgame. The initial draft actually had them going home. They were sent to exile instead because it didn't feel right to have the player who goes home in Gummy Bear's spot to have auto-immunity and then get back into the game, while the players who went out next would have an outright worse result. Which... kind of just pushed the issue back a round. I think there are definitely better ways we could have done this - probably informing players that they'd be voting someone into exile would be the easiest one - but as Silver mentioned, this game was kind of rushed through the design phase to make sure something ran! At the end of the day, it's a twist that players will have to take in their stride. It's not the most fair, but it is a complex game. FTR, I'm pretty sure the whole issue of 'we shouldn't send them straight to Redemption because then the player in Gummy Bear's slot has a better deal than them' was my call in the first place so I take responsibility for this twist. If any players/specs have more complaints about it, please direct them to me rather than the other two mods. It probably wouldn't have been as bad if it wasn't specifically Grogu coming back, because I think he's being a lot more vindictive about it than basically any other player would have been. And it's pretty terrible play on his part imo, I think it'll likely lead to him being booted the moment he doesn't have immunity.

If any spec wants to try out the hunt for the last idol piece, please let me know. I'd appreciate a playtest!

Actually it sounds like Grogu may have got his salt out early and is now getting down to playing in earnest. He MAY even be talking productively to Bees! It’s interesting to see that he really does seem to believe he was innocent and got screwed over. He actually had Bees onside for awhile so that’s not really who he should be particularly mad at either...

But I know he was soft pushing Bees early in that round (which made sense, looked like the best option) and I saw Droids telling Bees “even now he’s pushing you!” so either Grogu is way more dirty than he thinks he is or Droids just was lying.

Btw the pithy “it’s almost like it’s Barely Survivor” response feels annoying but there’s definitely truth to it. I clearly have time to be playing this game as evidenced by all my posts as a spec, but I saw the complex rating and title of the game and noped out hard. Doesn’t mean there’s not some design decisions that could’ve been tweaked for the better, but at the same time this game was clearly buyer beware.

It's a bit of a hard problem to work around, because these only run one at a time and take so long. So as a player, your choices are either to play or wait a month and a half for the next one, and a lot of people understandably don't want to wait that long. So when something is made that has design they don't particularly enjoy (or outright bad design), it's going to irritate the players even if it had a 'Complex' label and they had the option to sit out.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how little ranting this has produced from the players themselves, despite the points against it being valid. ...Bees? and Maggie in particular given they're the players most screwed over by this.

If any spec wants to try out the hunt for the last idol piece, please let me know. I'd appreciate a playtest! To be a bit more specific on this, it's essentially pictionary with some twists. Mostly looking to check how easy it is to get stuck on a level (it's more supposed to be a race than something that'll stump them for ages).
